Rachael DInwiddie Obituary

Rachael Marie Dinwiddie was born on March 31, 1978, in Detroit, Michigan, to Jerry and Janet Dinwiddie. Detroit shaped her with grit, warmth, and an undeniable realness that she carried with her everywhere she went. She was baptized at Russell Street Baptist Church, where her faith took root, and later graduated from Redford High School.
Above everything else in this world, Rachael was a mother. She was the proud and devoted mom of her two sons, Greyson, 22, and Greylen, 19. She called them The Masters. They were her greatest accomplishment, her deepest joy, and her life’s most important work. Raising them was her purpose. Every sacrifice, every long day, and every hard decision was made with her sons in mind. Being their mother was not just a role she played, it was who she was at her core.
Rachael’s professional journey reflected that same dedication. She began her career in banking, moved on to OnStar, and later spent nine years at Comcast. But titles never truly captured who she was. To those who knew her, she was simply “Boss Lady.” That name came not from authority, but from confidence, loyalty, and authenticity. Rachael never met a stranger. Coworkers quickly became family, and those bonds extended far beyond the workday. Once she claimed you, you were in for life.
Her greatest joy lived in her people. Rachael loved hosting kickbacks at her home, music playing, laughter filling the space, and love flowing freely. She cherished time with her sister Raina, her oldest friend Brandee, her best friends Sandy and Tamika, her brother in spirit Rob (Sheritha), and her special friend Sunni. These were not just friendships; they were chosen family and safe spaces.
Rachael found peace in the simple, soul feeding things that reminded her of home. She loved riding around Belle Isle with the windows down, letting the city restore her spirit. She kept her nails right, and only Jackie touched them, because the details mattered to her. Some of her most tender moments were spent driving Granny Grace to the Dynamo Club, making sure her grandmother felt loved, protected, and celebrated like the queen she was.
She was fiercely protective of her circle, especially those she lovingly called “the old people.” Rachael was selective, but once you were in her life, there was no expiration date. She loved people intentionally and individually, showing up in ways that made everyone feel seen, remembered, and valued. That was her gift, making people feel like they mattered, because to her, they truly did.
Rachael was preceded in death by the father of her sons, Marcel “Pookie.”
She leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, laughter, strength, and unapologetic love. The world was louder, funnier, and more honest because she was here.
Rachael is survived by her beloved sons, Greyson and Greylen, her Masters, her bonus son Marcel Jr., her parents Jerry and Janet Dinwiddie, her grandmother Grace Blackmon, her sister Sandra Dinwiddie, her brother Richard (Joya) Dinwiddie, her nephews Evan and Liam, her niece Arianna, and a host of friends who became family.

To Greyson and Greylen:
Your mother loved you beyond measure. She raised you with intention, strength, and purpose. A village stands behind you now, committed to surrounding you with love, guidance, and support, ensuring your continued success. This is what your mother would have wanted, and her love will always lead the way.
