BARBARA PELZER Obituary

Barbara Ann Pelzer was born on January 14, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan to Jesse Sherrod and Queen Ester Pelzer.  Both Parents, her four siblings; David Pelzer, Donnie Pelzer, Gary Pelzer, and Jacqueline Shearrod-Dewberry, and her niece, Olivia Pelzer preceded her in death.

Barbara accepted Christ at an early age, she attended Church of Our Prayer under the Leadership of James L. Lofton, Sr. She participated in the Church Youth Choir.

Barbara was educated in the Detroit Public School System. She graduated in 1972 from Northern High School. After graduation, she enlisted and served in the United States Army, and received an honorable discharge. During her enlistment in the Service, she met and married, James Hodges.

Barbara met her true love, Luther Hill, and from this union, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Chaquenia. Barbara was very creative, and was known for sending thoughtful cards and/or gifts to her family and friends. She loved decorating, and had a loving and giving spirit. The Christmas Holiday’s was her favorite time of the year, and all the decorations of the season. Musically, she played the keyboards, with the desire to teach her granddaughter, Kimoura. She loved spending quality time with her granddaughter, Kimoura

Barbara departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 28, 2021. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughter, Chaquenia Hill- Barrow from Ozark, Alabama, her heart, grand daughter, Kimoura Hill from Ozark, Alabama; Brother, James “Jimmy” Pelzer from Detroit, Michigan; Sister, Vera-Sherrod-Miller from Detroit, Michigan;  Sister-in-law; Denise Pelzer from Detroit, Michigan; Aunt, Mary L. Carter from Detroit, Michigan;  Uncle, Charles “Polly” Bell from Detroit, Michigan; Nieces and Nephews: Doreen Henry, Donnie Pelzer, David Pelzer, Jessica Pelzer-Taylor, Viola Sherrod, Jacquenette Shearrod, Johnetta Dewberry, Shawn Smith, John Sherrod,  25 great nieces and nephews, 6 great great nephews and nieces, and a host of cousins, family and friends.
